About the role

We are looking to add a Junior Mobile Software Developer to our team; someone who is passionate about the craft of producing high-quality interactive mobile apps and mobile sites, who loves a good challenge, can think strategically and can collaborate effectively.

Tasks and responsibilities will include

  • Enhance and maintain our Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android applications
  • Turning requirements into reliable code
  • Usage of Git revision control system utilizing a branching strategy such as git flow
  • Participate in weekly sprints
  • Participate in code reviews for pull requests
  • Participate and suggest improvements to current Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery workflows
  • Work independently in a remote/telecommute environment
  • Collaborate with individuals in multidisciplinary teams (developers, QA, project managers, and product owners) to consistently deliver quality software.

Skills and traits that are pretty essential

  • 3 years object-oriented software development background from a university setting or as your own hobby or interest
  • Mobile development experience
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs
  • Working knowledge of XML and JSON
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle)
  • Familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines or Android’s Material Design Specification
  • Curiosity in other computer programming languages
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to Debug code with breakpoints during execution
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to articulate discussions within the dev teams and with the client

Skills and traits that would make you stand out

  • Open Source contributions
  • Personal public GitHub repo or similar
  • Developed mobile iOS or Android applications
  • A strong background in Microsoft .NET technologies such as Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android
  • cURL or Postman execution of API calls to debug issues
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Stack (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence, Bamboo)
